•  John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation "Genius Grant" (1993)

Every year, the MacArthur Fellows Program awards fellowships to individuals who have shown dedication to their professional and intellectual pursuits. Paul Farmer was presented this award in 1993 for his health and social justice work in Haiti.

•  Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize

Farmer was awarded the Conrad Hilton Foundation's Humanitarian Prize of $1.5 million, which is presented to a non-governmental or charitable organization that provides humanitarian aid to the disadvantaged.

•  American Medical Association's International Physician Award

The AMA's Dr. Nathan Davis Award is presented to a doctor who works internationally or whose work has reached patients on an international scale.

•  Duke University Humanitarian Award

Sponsored by Duke Religious Life, the Duke Service Humanitarian Award is given to an individual who has devoted his/her life to benefiting the lives of others and leading a simple lifestyle.

•  Austin College Leadership Award

Austin College awards $100,000 annually to an individual who has taken a courageous stand on a public policy or humanitarian issue. Paul Farmer was the recipient of this award in 2007 for his work with Partners in Health.

•  Honorary Doctor of Science degree from Emory University

Paul Farmer received an honorary degree from Emory University where he delivered the keynote address at the class of 2007 commencement. He was presented the degree for his work with Emory University's Institute for Developing Nations, which seeks to develop new ways to solve health problems in developing countries

•  Honorary doctorate degree from the University of Notre Dame

•  Spirituality and Justice Award: All Saints Parish in Brookline                              

Dr. Farmer received this award on April 27, 2008. To go with his acceptance, he gave a sermon at All Saints Parish in Brookline, Massachusetts. Parishioners donated a total of $11,895 to Partners in Health under the doctor's name.

•  Dr. Paul Farmer was the subject of CBS's 60 Minutes                                    

On May 4, 2008 Paul Farmer was the subject of a segment on CBS's 60 Minutes . He was interviewed by reporter Bryon Pitts. The segment gave basic information about PIH and specifically their work in Haiti. The video can be found here
